Wolcott, Connecticut is a midsized town with a lot of character. The town’s public library and senior center provide workshops and programs for residents of all ages. The town has a number of recreational facilities including the Charles Rietdyke and Scovill recreation center and area. Students receive an excellent education and the town even has a six week summer school program for grades K-8 free of charge. Single family homes in varying styles are found throughout the town as are condominium communities.

A rich colonial heritage, a solid industrial foundation and an ideal locality make Wolcott a good choice for active family living. Home buyers can select from a diverse collection of traditional and contemporary styles including ranches, colonials and capes. There are also a good number of condominium complexes and apartment rental opportunities. Wolcott is situated along routes 332 and 69 providing convenient road travel to and from nearby urban centers, shopping malls and places of employment.

Wolcott’s town green is a charming collection of historic structures including the Old Stone School of 1811 which now serves as the Historical Society Museum. Wolcott is also the birthplace of the Alcott Brothers. Amos Alcott was the father of author Louisa May Alcott.

The wide open spaces and natural resources of Wolcott provide ample opportunity for leisure activities, sports and outdoor recreation. In town facilities include the Charles Rietdyke Recreation Center and the Scovill Recreation Area. Peterson Park (50 acres) on the Mad River and Lake Hitchcock provide plenty of peaceful acreage for hiking, picnics, swimming and nature study.

Wolcott has three modern elementary schools, a middle school and the high school all located within the town. Students receive a traditional course curriculum and special programs are available for fast learners and the handicapped. Adults can take advantage of fine program of continuing education classes.
