West Haven, Connecticut is a pristine seaside suburb of the city of New Haven. The city has numerous parks and beaches. Sandy Point Beach is frequented by bird enthusiasts; Bradley Point Park is the scene of the July, 5th 1779 British invasion and is now a popular picnic spot. With an excellent school system and diverse housing market, West Haven is an attractive place to live.

West Haven is a pleasant little coastal town that lies about 58 miles east of New York City and 40 miles south of Hartford. It was first settled in the mid 1640s as part of the New Haven Colony. It incorporated as a separate town in 1921 and received its city charter in 1961.

The town is primarily a residential community that offers a diverse selection of single-family and multi-family homes, condominiums and apartment complexes. A spectacular beach, great for walks, jogging and roller-blading, runs uninterrupted for a few miles from Milford to New Haven with a variety of opportunities for seafood along the way.

West Haven offers a solid education to its student population. School programs feature a general academic curriculum, accelerated classes for advanced pupils and a special education program for the handicapped.
